Honoring Veterans Who Went Beyond the Call of Duty…like my Dad

Beyond the call of duty and service to one’s country, countless acts of good Samaritan kindness took place never heard about. In WWII, my Dad, Major J. Jan Mestrovich, gave rations regularly to an orphanage for blind children. When they learned he would be returning to the United States, the BLIND CHILDREN embroidered this silk tablecloth in appreciation of his many gifts.

My heart is touched each time I see this treasure I am honored to caretake. Gratitude to all veterans for the gift of service to protect others and another gratitude acknowledgment to those who went beyond the call of duty to help others in any way.
