It seems vital to go beyond grandparenting to keep the body strong and flexible. I do consider grandparenting young children a legitimate exercise routine when they are young (and put that on application forms)…picking up, holding, carrying, chasing, being chased, multi-tasking while carrying, holding while bending over to pick up dropped and thrown items, as well as ducking from some of those tossed toys….the list goes on.

Having started TRX at the YMCA in Ashland recently, I am discovering that using my own body weight for resistance training is doing a super job strengthening my core and toning me to a new level. The TRX positions work muscles while always keeping the core strong. Another benefit is that I feel vibrant all day long.

It is great to feel stronger, in general. I am impressed with the focus and investment of core strengthening. It feels different than many of the exercises I have tried. And the distance I can carry a three year old has lengthened. Now there’s some proof in the puddin’ for some awesome aging!
