Claire and Grandma Boom silly time. Claire kept laying her head down on the dining room table and looking at me as she sat in my lap. I followed her lead and did the same with my head. She laughed, lifted her head up, then repeated the same. Again, I followed her lead. And again, she laughed with delight. I lost count of how many times Claire initiated this game, but I did it each time to match her happy eyes and laughter, even though my head got weary. Why? Because Claire, being a toddler, wants to initiate connecting in her little ways and when I listen, she is filled with satisfaction. Little ones need to feel they have power and are acknowledged. Connecting with her in this way filled me with satisfaction, too. It was another fun way to continue building our relationship.
