Maurice

I see this man frequently at a shopping center. He gave me permission to take a photo. He is always singing. I asked him about his life. His name is Maurice, and was refreshingly honest about his situation. Maurice spent decades on meth and crack until he was hit by a car and lost his leg. He said that woke him up because it could have been prevented if he had not been high. So he stopped doing drugs, realizing he wanted to live in a different way. His social security almost covers the rent of a humble room so he sings for his food money. His attitude is always nice and grateful for even a kind hello. He greatly appreciated my stopping to connect with him. It added meaning to my day that is so different from his. I was grateful, too. Maurice provides inspiration for people with his amazing positive attitude!
